Inside Our Labs: What Hands-On Science Actually Looks Like

On the timetable it just says "Science Lab, Period 4." In practice, a Grade VII class might be titrating vinegar and baking soda to watch a reaction curve, while next door Grade IX is soldering a simple circuit for the term's electronics unit. Every lab session is built around a question the class has to answer by the end of the period, not a procedure to follow — the worksheet comes after the experiment, as a record of what was found, not a script for finding it. The computer lab runs the same way for coding and robotics units: students are given a broken program or an incomplete robot behaviour and asked to fix it, which turns out to teach the underlying logic faster than building one from a tutorial ever does.
