Annual Day 2026: What It Took to Get Every Grade on Stage
Cultural Committee
·

Annual Day rehearsals start six weeks out, mostly in twenty-minute after-school slots squeezed between the end of class and the school bus. The UKG action-song is always the most-rehearsed three minutes of the evening, and always the one that gets the loudest applause regardless of how it goes. This year's Grade X production ran twelve minutes over its slot — a student-written piece about a school reunion that the cast refused to cut down. Nobody in the audience seemed to mind. Behind the stage, the real logistics were backstage costume changes for the 40-odd students performing in more than one act, and a sound system that needed retesting after every single group.
